Deciding on the mix of materials for a space is one of the most important details. The materials in this kitchen were carefully selected to create warmth, ground the space, still allow the space to feel light and open and create primary and secondary focal points in the spaces. Below are the materials we incorporated.
Maple

Cherry
Painted cabinetry

Granite

Stainless Steel

Back splash tile

Dark stain on existing white oak floors

By combining just the right materials we balanced, light, dark. matte, sheen, textured, smooth to create a three-dimensional composition. One last look at the final result of the details and planning.

We stepped back in time to visit this antebellum home on the way to the airport. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the oldest plantation in the lower Mississippi valley. We saw a signed document by Thomas Jefferson dated 1804. They have guided tours of the house and grounds and have lots of interesting demonstrations that help you imagine daily operations of a plantation: candle making, indigo dyeing, cooking. I loved the trees dripping with spanish moss.
